Our Day...
Baby Lily is growing and teething. At least, I'm hoping "this too shall pass." For the past month, she's been getting up every 1.5 hours to nurse. Until the solid foods kick in, I can imagine I won't be getting much sleep. Last night, I nursed her at midnight, 2 a.m., 3:30 a.m., 4:30 a.m., 6 a.m. and 7:30 a.m. No, I didn't sleep much.
I woke up just in time to grab a shower, get the girls dressed and get out of the house for our Bug Co-op across town.
As I get out of the shower, I'm informed that Katie AND Maisie have thrown up in their beds overnight. Lovely DH is cleaning up the mess of blankets and mattress covers.
I call my friend who is throwing the bug co-op to ask if we should stay home. She tells me that if the girls seem fine and there's no more vomiting, please come.
Like a crazy woman, I get the kids ready to walk out the door. I haven't had breakfast so I grab a burrito from Chik-fil-A for breakfast. During the 30 minute drive across town, Maisie is making light grunts and complaining her stomach hurts. I'm not sure whether to take her seriously, or whether she's just complaining in general, so I tell her that if she's sick, we can turn around and rest at home. Of course, she doesn't want to go home.
We pull up to the house and I unbuckle Katie and Dani. I suddenly hear "huuuu, huuuuu" and I RUN around the car, fling open the car door to see Katie vomiting on the floor. I grab her as fast as I can and set her on the sidewalk where she continues to hurl.
I send Maisie to the front door to ask for paper towels and a grocery sack. My friend comes out with those, some baby wipes and a clean t-shirt for Katie. We get cleaned up (as much as we can clean up the vomit floor in the car) and pack it up back for home.
On the way home, I call DH. He was going to change the oil and rotate his tires, but in the meantime he discovered he needs to replace the brake pads, there's a nail in one tire, and while he was taking the tire off one of the lug nut posts broke off. It was a good thing we were coming home because he'd need to drive our car to work because he didn't have enough time to finish fixing the car.
We made it home "in one piece" and decided to rest for the day. After a slice of almond butter toast, I put a movie on for the girls. Dani was fading fast, so I put her down for a nap. The girls watched a movie while I attended to some homeschool group work that needed done.
Dani woke up an hour later and we all went back downstairs for a snack. After snack, we pulled out the washable paints and the girls each painted a picture.
Maisie read her penpals letter (from Canada) and started writing her letter back to her friend.
I started dinner. Papa decided to take Dani upstairs to look for something I needed and while there, Dani threw up again. I cleaned her up while the broccoli for dinner was steamed, then we came back down for dinner. After a dinner of salmon patties, mac and cheese and broccoli, we cleaned up the kitchen. Dani threw up again just outside the kitchen and on the kitchen floor.
Cleaned her up, straightened up the family room, then put the girls to bed. Lily napped while I tried to work on some pictures from our road trip. My computer died twice in ten minutes and apparently the new power supply I knew I was going to soon need, I need now. I'm now on the laptop.
Lily is awake from her hour nap, so I'm off to nurse her....again!
