SOTW: Gilgamesh continued
We are having so much fun with our history curriculum "Story of the World." This week, we studied the story of Gilgamesh.
"Gilgamesh is one of the oldest recorded stories in the world. It tells the story of an ancient King of Uruk, Gilgamesh, who may have actually existed, and whose name is on the Sumerian King List."
We are in the midst of studying Mesopotamia and having a great time with it. This week's assignment was to write a fairy tale using Gilgamesh as the subject. This is what Maisie wrote:
I swayed her from the "guy meets girl, they marry happily ever after" storyline. That one drive me nuts. She learned how a story must have some sort of conflict and resolution. She did a great job!
Hopefully I'll get a chance to post more of our activities. I have pictures, I just don't seem to have the time to format and upload them :(

Gilgamesh and a New Friend
Gilgamesh was a really strong powerful half god half man. He lived in Mesopotamia and his job was to keep the city safe. He was the king.
One day Gilgamesh was walking in the forest and met some animals that were trying to find some food but there was nothing around. Gilgamesh helped them find food and then they found something dead that they ate. Then he went back to the palace to eat real quick and then he went out to the forest and walked some more.
He met a beautiful girl. They become friends and they talk to each other all the time. They like to play games together. They like to sing songs and they like to draw stuff to each other.
One day someone took the beautiful girl away. His name was Jericho. He liked her and he wanted her to be friends but she didn’t like him because she wanted to be with Gilgamesh.
So Gilgamesh grabbed his sword, went to Jericho’s house to get his friend back! Gilgamesh put Jericho in jail because he took his friend away.
THE END
