What does it all mean to me?

I haven't had the drive to blog lately. I'm trying to digest everything that is happening in our country and at the end of the day, I just have little energy to try and sit still to tell about our days.
I have fear for the direction our country is taking. I had fear before, during the Bush Administration with the overspending, banks failing and the economy, but with the current spending bill and the direction of socialization of medicine and forced morality, I am concerned that we are waivering far from the original ideals of the country.
I believe there are few accidents in our lives. God provides the direction we need if we are listening and what we do with it is our free will. A few months ago, a friend introduced me to the Thomas Jefferson Education model. At the time, I felt it aligned with many of my goals. Now I realize it was a little nudge from God about the times to come.
Last night, my dad and I watched the documentary about the commercial jet that landed in the Hudson river in January. A few of the passengers were interviewed and mentioned that they believe that everyone surviving was a gift from God; now they are questioning whether they are living God's purpose for them. I believe with all of my heart that everyone surviving that crash was a gift from God. Have you seen the interview with the pilot? I get chills. He's not proud, he's humble and he cannot explain exactly how he managed it. Yes, he is a fantastic pilot, but I didn't realize the exact angle the plane had to be landed in for it not to break up horribly. I cannot argue that God's hand was in that miracle; I can only ask myself "why?" Are we, as a whole, ignoring that gift of a miracle?
I went to bed last night asking myself, "Am I doing what I would be doing if I had just survived a plane crash?"
I am. Not. I am, and I'm not. There's nothing more important than being with my children and educating them. But there's always more I can do.
The more I read about the founding of this country, the more I see God's hand in it. Just as the nation of Israel was chosen by God, I think America has had immense blessings bestowed on it's formation. Why else would other countries feel the need to eliminate America and Israel? That's not to say that America, as a country, hasn't made mistakes! But listening to God and the principles taught in the bible have helped correct those mistakes. Where would we be without that guidance?
Perhaps we're moving in that direction. That's my fear.
